SEVENTH WEEK (07/01/19 - 11/01/19)

During this week I dealt with the story 'A Day in the Country' written by Anton Chekhov which portrays nature's influence on man. . The students liked the story and they responded with great enthusiasm. The difficult words and its meanings were taught with the help of ICT .8th and 9th were holidays for school due to strike.

SIXTH WEEK (31/12/18 - 4/01/19)

Pupils had Christmas exams from 11/12/2018. The school reopened on December 31st after the Christmas vacation.During this week I made them learn Phrasal Verbs using Advance Organizer Model and the story 'The Nightingale and the Rose' was enacted in the class using Role play model. I also introduced a new story 'A Day In The Country' written by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. I got the opportunity to mingle with other students of the school as a part of the substitution hours.

FIFTH WEEK (03/12/18 - 7/12/18)

During this week I completed the story 'The Nightingale and the Rose' written by Oscar Wilde and  also done an activity of story house from the story. The class was very interactive. Students understood the classes well and they responded with great interest. Apart from teaching I was fully engaged in various classes during this week. I was gaining more confidence and was able to manage the classes well

CONTENT ANALYSIS

FIRST SHOWERS  is a beautiful poem written by the well known Indian poet Nalini Sharma. The poet speaks about the changes that rain brings. Here the poet tells us that we can alleviate our pains through the real touch of nature. It soothes us and brings happiness to our mind and soul. The rain soothes the poet by getting rid of heat and fatigue.

INTRODUCING THE POEM Teacher  introduces the lesson and the author by showing a picture of the author and writes the title on the blackboard. FIRST SHOWERS       NALINI SHARMA Teacher displays a video which narrates the poem and visualizes each lines of the poem.
READING BY THE TEACHER Teacher reads the poem with proper stress, rhythm, intonation etc
SILENT READING BY THE  STUDENTS Teacher asks the students to share their ideas on what they have understood reading the lines with their peers.
SCAFFOLDING QUESTIONS Teacher asks a few scaffolding questions to the students. Who is the author of the poem? What is the title of the poem? How does the rain soothe the poet’s nerves?

APPRECIATION OF THE POEM Teacher gives a brief summary of the lines. When poet was returning from her workplace after an exhausted day’s work, cool raindrops touched her dried out face. The unexpected rain soaked her. It was a great comfort to her troubled nerves. Her frayed nerves got energized and she felt afresh.
GROUP ACTIVITY Teacher asks the students to be in groups and write Prepare the profile of Nalini Sharma based on the hints given
REFINING AND EDITING Teacher edits the products prepared by the students.
REVIEW Teacher recapitulates the lines and asks some questions. What made the poet’s stel unsteady? What was the poet doing at the time of rain?
FOLLOW UP ACTIVITY Teacher gives an assignment Find out the poetic devices used in the first eight lines of the poem.

During this week I completed the poem 'First Showers' and I started the story 'The Nightingale and the Rose' written by Oscar Wilde. I introduced the story using ICT. Flashcards and  activity cards were used and difficult words and their meanings were taught using ICT. The class was very interactive. Students understood the classes well and they responded with great interest.
November 30 was holiday due to a strike organised by KSU
